Susie began running in her mid 30s and due to her sister’s influence became a marathoner at the age of 40. In the midst of learning a new sport, she realized that the new runner and walker were not being targeted in this market, and so began the evolution of Up and Running. A few years of training in other stores, a bank loan and a bunch of support from friends and we now have Up and Running! If she isn’t in the store, she is training on a bike, in a pool, on the trails or the roads…trying to keep up with the rest of the people at UAR. Or you might see her chasing/keeping up with a few youngsters around the store.

Brandice was the first friend to help, way back in the very beginning of UAR. Her active lifestyle and willingness to help was and is a tremendous comfort. Brandice has taken and taught probably every type of workout class, and now she has taken up running too. In her free time, Brandice and her husband John, enjoy a life full of travel and social gatherings with great friends who are family!

We are lucky to have Joan spending a majority of her time at UAR! Joan is like most of us, she is willing try anything. She began running with Team In Training and then became a triathlete. Joan competed in her first 1/2 Ironman race in the summer of 2009. On top of all that, Joan works out regularly at the gym too and finds time to support her husband and two children in all their adventures!

Nickie has never met a sport or activity she didn’t like. Whether she is riding a mountain bike or road bike, skiing, trail or road running, hiking, camping or climbing a big rock, she is outside moving and enjoying every minute of it. Nickie brings a youthful exuberance to UAR that cannot be matched.

Jean is affectionately known as Green Jean, because she maintains all of our lovely plants! She was a customer first, and was such a nice visitor occasionally that when she asked, “Can I visit 2 days a week?” The answer was a resounding heck yes! Jean spends more time carpooling than she cares to talk about, but still finds early morning hours to train with her girls on the track or the bike or at the gym. If you want a personal shopper, Jean is your gal. |

Maria has just recently expanded her sport of choice from running to cycling; soon we may have another triathlete on staff. Maria works full time outside of UAR, but somehow, she is also in the store often! Maria is possibly the quietest person at UAR, but she is also one of the hardest working people we know. We truly appreciate the hours she has to offer UAR. |
|
Mem is a graduate of our first Running 101 program! Now she is using her talents all over the store. Mem brings her active lifestyle to UAR, and more than that her talents with our apparel and design. You will see signs of Mem’s touches throughout the store. |

We are fortunate to have found the first male associate for our team in Matt. A cross country runner for The University of Dayton, who recently tackled his first marathon! Matt is a high energy guy, his days are always "Excellent!!" Matt also translates his love and knowledge for running through coaching XC for the Centerville HS Girls' team.

We are quite sure you have seen David somewhere in Dayton. As a former college cross country athlete, David has now become a well known coach in the Dayton area. In the spring he coaches track for Oakwood High School and in the fall he coaches cross country for the Centerville High School girls' team. This very busy and talented coach also has a full family life with a lovely wife and three children. |

Paul comes from an entirely different background, water not land! Paul swam in college for Bowling Green and now he swims and coaches for the Dayton Raiders Masters Team. In addition, Paul has competed in half marathons, full marathons, and triathlon events! Paul works full time for Bimac a local manufacturing company, but joins UAR in the evenings and on the weekends.
