Physio Ball Exercises presented by Lisa Duncan, PT, AT, March 16th

Physio Ball Exercises for the Runner Lecture presented by Lisa Duncan, Certified Physical Therapist & Certified Athletic Trainer.  Mark your calenders for March 16 9am in Dayton!  Lisa will discuss the many uses of the physio ball for walkers, runners & triathletes.  How do you implement a great physio ball routine in to your daily workout regime?  Have a physioball and not sure what to do with it?  Come and learn 6 key exercises for endurance athletes.  These exercises will involve not only the core, but also the almighty glutes and the multifidus.  Not sure if you have those?  Come and find out! While these exercises might not make you a 6 minute miler, they will allow you to use your body more efficiently, and hopefully, help keep you from going in for repair work!  After all, training for your next 5K should be a “ball”!  (You had to see that coming!)

Lisa Duncan began running in 1981.  She ran for Mcauley High School in Cincinnati where she set the school record at 800 meters and was  part of the state record setting 4×1 mile relay.  Lisa continued running on scholarship at Miami University as a member of both the cross country and track teams.  While at Miami she met a wonderful young man and was introduced to the sport of cycling.  After graduation Lisa continued running competitively as well as competing in the burgeoning world of multi-sport.

Lisa’s accomplishments in the sport of triathlon include numerous age group wins, multiple national championship qualifications and USAT all American awards.  She has qualified and competed at The IronMan World Championships in Kona Hawaii and competed for Team USA at age group World Championships in Sater Sweden where she finished 4th (missing the bronze by 100th of a second).  Most recently, Lisa has taken up endurance mountain bike racing, and has competed in the Vermont 50 Miler the past two years.  Her goal for 2013 is to aggressively pursue Xterra Racing, hoping to qualify for the World Championships this fall.

Lisa holds degrees in Health Apraisment and Enhancement from Miami of Ohio, Physical Therapy from Oklahoma University, is a certified athletic trainer, and a USAT Level 1 certified coach.

Lisa is currently the site coordinator of Atrium Medical outpatient physical therapy center at the Countryside YMCA in Lebanon, Ohio where she uses her 16 years of sports centered  therapy to get and keep people in the race.
